ECOCERT is an international organic certification organization based in France. It is one of the largest and most respected certification bodies in the world. ECOCERT focuses on the certification of organic agricultural products and sustainable practices. Here’s a breakdown of what ECOCERT stands for: Organic Certification: ECOCERT certifies products that meet strict organic standards, ensuring they are free from synthetic chemicals, GMOs, and other harmful substances. This applies to food, cosmetics, textiles, and more. Sustainable Practices: Beyond organic farming, ECOCERT also certifies products and companies that follow sustainable practices, such as fair trade, environmental conservation, and responsible resource management. Global Reach: While it started in France, ECOCERT now operates in over 130 countries, making it a globally recognized and trusted certification. COSMOS stands for COSMetic Organic and Natural Standard. It is a standard developed by five leading certification bodies, including ECOCERT, to unify organic and natural cosmetic standards across Europe and beyond. Here’s what you need to know about COSMOS: Unified Standard: COSMOS provides a single, unified standard for organic and natural cosmetics, ensuring consistency and transparency for consumers worldwide. Certification Types: COSMOS offers two types of certification: COSMOS Organic: For products that contain a high percentage of organic ingredients. COSMOS Natural: For products that may not meet the organic criteria but still adhere to strict natural ingredient guidelines. Comprehensive Criteria: The COSMOS standard covers the entire lifecycle of a cosmetic product, including sourcing of ingredients, manufacturing processes, packaging, and labeling, ensuring they are environmentally friendly and safe for consumers. COSMOS Natural and COSMOS Organic are certification standards for natural and organic cosmetics, designed to ensure products meet high standards of quality, sustainability, and safety. Here's what each certification entails: COSMOS Natural certification guarantees that the product is made from natural ingredients. The main criteria include: Natural Origin: Ingredients must come from natural sources like plants, minerals, or other natural substances. Processing Methods: Limited use of processes that alter the natural state of ingredients, such as physical processes (e.g., drying, pressing) and simple chemical processes (e.g., hydrolysis). Environmental Considerations: Ensures environmentally friendly practices throughout the product's life cycle, including biodegradability and sustainable sourcing. Packaging: Preference for recyclable and environmentally friendly packaging materials. COSMOS Organic certification includes all COSMOS Natural requirements, with additional standards for organic content: Organic Content: At least 95% of the agro-ingredients must be organically produced. Overall, the product must contain a minimum of 20% organic ingredients (10% for rinse-off products). Certified Ingredients: Ingredients must comply with recognized organic farming standards. Production Standards: Strict guidelines for maintaining the organic integrity of ingredients during production, processing, and storage. No GMOs: Prohibition of genetically modified organisms in any form. Both certifications require products to adhere to rigorous safety, efficacy, and transparency standards, ensuring consumers receive high-quality, trustworthy natural and organic cosmetics. Products with these certifications display the words "COSMOS Natural" or "COSMOS Organic" below the certifier's logo, indicating compliance with the COSMOS standard. We are committed to creating skincare products that are not only effective but also friendly to the skin and our environment. Active Ingredients, The very essence of Dois products lies in the active ingredients sourced from flowers and herbs from the Baltic meadows and forests. The unique natural environment of the Baltic region contributes to the potency of these ingredients. The northern summers in the Baltic region are much shorter, compelling plants to concentrate their blossoming vigor in a brief period. As a result, at the time of harvest, these plants are rich in the active ingredients required to survive in harsh climates. Philosophy We believe that all skincare and makeup on the planet should be done right, effective yet friendly to the skin and our environment. Combining Nature and Science Dois marries nature with science to create game-changing products. We harness powerful plant actives to deliver real results. Certification Most of our products are Natural and Organic Certified according to the international COSMOS standard by ECOCERT Greenlife, nourishing both the skin and senses. Ensuring the quality and safety of our products is a top priority at Dois. Formulation Process The formulation process begins by consulting guidelines from ingredient suppliers about the recommended usage and concentration for each ingredient. Sometimes, we even test several hundred samples to decide on the best formula. Cruelty-Free Testing We believe that beauty should be cruelty-free, which is why we don't test (and never will) on animals. Instead, each product is tested by volunteers who share their skin’s reaction after testing and provide their subjective evaluation. Both are taken into account when refining the formula. Laboratory Testing After a product is created, it undergoes rigorous testing in a laboratory. This includes measuring various physical and chemical properties, determining stability and expiration date, as well as studying and defining standards for storage. In accordance with the law, each product is tested by a qualified chemist to ensure it complies with safety and consistency tests. We also send the items to external labs to make sure that the chosen preservatives work well throughout the validity period. Batch Consistency We also check the physical and chemical properties for each batch we manufacture. This ensures that the product from production is consistent with the approved version from the laboratory. Understanding the shelf life of your organic cosmetics is crucial for both safety and effectiveness. General Shelf Life Most Dois products have a general shelf life of 2 years from the date of production. When you receive your products, you can expect them to have no less than a 6-month validity period. However, on average, the products will have a validity period ranging from 12 to 24 months. Validity After Opening Once opened, Dois products have a validity period that ranges from 3 to 24 months. It's essential to note that the expiration date is also listed on the packaging, providing you with a clear guideline on the product's usability.
